WHAT IS THIS?
Below are some pictures taken near the
crossroad of the D 183 and the D 91. This is the road leading from St. Sylvain to St. Pierre
sur-Dives. Last year (2005) a small monument was placed on this spot to the remembrance of the
crew of the B-26 Marauder 'Hitch Hiker', which crased near here. But my attention goes to the pile of concrete behind the memorial.
Has this anything to do with the Second World War?
Overgrown concrete
The remains of the concrete are in a square of a 100 yards in length.
According to my compass it lies in a north-west position pointing towards Caen.
